Depending on what vehicle/axle/locking hub you are working on… you might need a spindle nut socket. Some people use hammers and screw drivers or chisels to remove/install spindle nut sockets. I admit that I have done it myself and as such I don’t recommend it now that I know how damaging it can be. I recommend using a spindle nut socket designed for the job. Some auto parts stores rent spindle nut sockets. You can also buy new ones here.
